- Define what is known/unknown
- Define the critical suite of sensitive processes/parameters
- Define measurement strategy to improve understanding of
coupling processes
- Keep it simple:
- Exclude dynamic vegetation and other changes in land
cover
- Exclude nitrogen and other nutrient cycles that interact
with the terrestrial C cycle
- Exclude Fe and other trace element cycles that interact
with the oceanic C cycle
